I received a text from a friend today that said- "You are probably never going to be black. Maybe just go ahead and update your blog?" (See most recent post for explanation). And so I will update my blog.
This summer:
- The kids, and subsequently I, mastered the art of sleeping in. Its heavenly.
- I spent the first 6 weeks of summer playing the role of single Mom while Lance worked in Houston.
- I visited Lance in Houston and had so much fun (here we are in front of the Houston Temple).
- Lance taught the kids how to shoot a bb gun. They love it.
- We had a few amazing trips to the beach.
- It was too hot to do ANYTHING outside so my kids began to appreciate our cable and dvr.
- When I realized the kids were watching too much tv, I signed them up for daily swim lessons.
- Lance and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a weekend trip.
- We also celebrated our 10 years of marriage with great gifts. A watch for him and a ring for me!
In June and July, I would have told you that I love summer break and I never wanted it to end. I loved sleeping in and having no set schedule. And now it is August. I am ready for a schedule. I am ready for my kids to be in school. Zoie will be in 1st grade and Tobin will be in pre-school. (In Florida, kindergarten is all day so the state pays for all 4 year-olds to attend preschool for 3 hours a day/ 5 days a week.)
The kids start school next week-- its been a great summer! I only wish it would cool down soon...

How did you luck out with a 5 day a week pre-school?? That sounds awesome. Will Chase get bored without Tobin around?
LOVE that ring. Did Lance surprise you or did you pick it out? I wouldn't mind an upgrade for our 10 year - I figure I deserve it for staying married to Dan that long:)
Chase loves nothing more than my complete and undivided attention. He'll be just fine without Tobin. Lance and I went shopping for the ring together-- I have been envisioning my "right hand" ring since I was first married. Love it!
How have your kids handled the daily preschool? I'm considering sending Charlie to the local preschool here and it's daily from 8-12. I'm trying to decide if he's ready for it. I totally love your new ring. Congrats on ten years!
Such cute pictures!! The first day of school is always so fun--the kids are excited, and the parents even more excited. I hope Zoie and Tobin like their new teachers. I know their teachers are going to love them!
