Over the Weekend

I really don't have anything interesting or clever to add (do I ever?)-- a couple of Easter egg hunts and a fantastic Easter Sunday. I just love these kids and have had a fantastic Easter weekend.

Utah Grandma and Grandpa

Last weekend, Lance's parents came to visit. They are on a massive road trip from Utah and took a rather significant detour to squeeze us in.

We had the best time with "Utah Grandma and Grandpa". We haven't seen them in almost a year and a half, but Zoie and Tobin warmed up to them instantly.Chase, on the other hand:During their visit we introduced them to the world's greatest pizza and also to cuban food (Tampa's specialty). We also made them suffer through hours of a very boring museum (sorry guys). The kids are still talking about the night they got to spend in Grandma and Grandpa's trailer. (Zoie is still trying to convince us to move into a trailer park??) It was such an easy and fun visit.
I have to say that I have the best in-laws in the world. We wish they could have stayed much longer.

Its Official-- now help!

I am the new Primary President of the ward.

Its a little nerve-racking because I have never been a President of an organization. But I have spent the past two years as the 1st counselor in this Primary. And I genuinely LOVE the kids in this ward. I am excited. It helps that my counselors will be the bomb.

I welcome any great or fun ideas that you have seen in your own ward or others. Send me a message or email me at Kira.Rasmussen@Gmail.com. Thanks!

Penta-Mom

My brother jokingly compares me to "Octo-Mom" when he calls and can hear all the kids in the background. About 2 days a week, I have a "5 Kid Day". I get a lot of comments (or stares) if we ever dare to leave the house on those days. The truth is-- I really enjoy 5 kid days.

If it were too hard or stressful -- I wouldn't do it. But 4 out of 5 of these kids are unbelievably easy and obedient (Chase being the only exception). And all 5 of them are awesome, hilarious, and fun. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to spend my days with these monsters.

April 2nd

I have a theory about the moment that babies are born: Their initial reactions, as they come into the world, are very indicative of their inherent personalities.

Zoie had the loudest scream I have ever heard from baby. She never had that cute little "baby cry". She was NOT happy to have been forced into the world against her will (she refused to come so they performed an emergency c-section). She remains, to this day, a bit of a diva-- or at least, very vocal about her emotions.

Chase was born angry... and cuddly...simultaneously. Weird kid is still angry and cuddly.

But it was the day when Tobin was born that solidified this theory. Tobin was my second c-section. For some reason it was far worse than the first and I was experiencing the worst nausea I could imagine. The moment that Tobin was born was so quiet that I was alarmed. Then I heard a wonderful little whimper that built into a tiny cry. A few moments later, they brought Tobin-- all wrapped up-- to me while I was still on the operating table. The moment I held him, my first thought was, "he is so big and heavy!" (only 8 lbs., 6 oz.-- but he felt much bigger). He looked right at me and stopped crying instantly. He snuggled right into my arms and was silent.

That moment remains one of the most memorable and sweetest moments of my life. (It was immediately followed by a terrible recovery and two months of colic). But four years later, Tobin is still a sweet, happy, and mellow kid who loves to be hugged and held.

Happy Birthday Buddy Boy.
